Ayn Rand (エイン・ランド, Ein Rando) is one of the Four Sages along with Sumire Muroto, Albrecht Grünewald, and Arthur Zanuck, and is the head of the American Division of the Mechanized Soldier Plan, "NEXT". He is the former Promoter of Tina Sprout, but as he does not possess combat abilities, he acts as a command tower instead, providing Tina with the necessary information and instructions to carry out her tasks and missions.
Ayn Rand is only heard over Tina's earpiece. He does not appear in the anime or the manga.
He is a reneger who breached the agreement between the Four Sages, operating on healthy Cursed Children and creating mechanized Initiators called "HYBRID".
He was first heard talking to Tina after Tina failed her first attempt to assassinate Seitenshi due to the interference of Rentaro. He also commanded Tina to assassinate Kisara via phone calls after he found out that Kisara, who is the head of the company that Rentaro works for. During the second attempt to assassinate Seitenshi, he commands Tina to suicide if she fails this assassination mission again.
The Third Kanto War arc
His name was mentioned by Tina during Tina and Rentaro's meeting with Sumire. Tina states her worries on his attempt to kill Tina will put Rentaro and the people who mattered most to Rentaro in danger.
So far, it has not been revealed that Ayn Rand has experimented on himself to give himself any superhuman abilities. However, after his experiment on Tina Sprout succeeded, he went on to create more mechanized soldiers using Initiators. There are 5 other Initiators under Rand's command: Ashley Springsteen (a.k.a. Giga Hedgehog, Rank 100), Irene Spencer (a.k.a. Meteorfall, Rank 95), Faye Kronmiller (a.k.a. Fer-de-Lance, a type of snake; Rank 88), Louise Zelazny (a.k.a. Blood Creek, Rank 70), and their leader Rita Salisbury (a.k.a. Pluto, Rank 21). Tina Sprout stated that "the leader, Rita, surpasses me in every way."
