'''Sogen Saitake''' (斉武宗玄, さいたけ　そうげん, ''Saitake Sōgen'') is the protector of the [[Osaka Area]]. He is an ambitious man who dreams of one day ruling the world.

==Appearance==

He is seen having a thick, brown moustache and a brown beard. He also wears a spectacles which have a lens on one side. He is also seen wearing a suit with a pale green tie during his meeting with [[Seitenshi]].
==Personality==
Sogen is seen to be a very serious man with firm beliefs. He is very direct and gets to the point of a conversation very quickly, such as telling Seitenshi his desire to unite all five areas of Tokyo. According to Rentaro, Sogen is a very dangerous man, one whom he labels as a dictator, and compares him to Sapporo, Sendai and Hakata. Sogen aims in making Japan the first country to recover from the impending Gastrea extinction, and in order to reach his self-proclaimed "vision", he is willing to use violence to get what he wants, with no regard for the lives of others. He aims to achieve his goals by means of force, stating that those who have power have to take part in his plan, declaring his will is the will of all Japan, such as it is his own.

==Synopsis==
===Assassination arc===
Saitake arranged several meetings with [[Seitenshi]], in which they would discuss various topics. At their first meeting, Saitake revealed his disappointment at [[Rentaro Satomi|Rentaro]] destroying the [[Ladder of Heaven]] to defeat the Stage V [[Gastrea]] Scorpion. He went on further to reveal that it was to be transferred to the surface of the moon to destroy Gastrea, although as Rentaro pointed out it wasn't the only thing he would target, as other countries were also on Saitake's list. Saitake accepted this, stating that after the Gastrea were exterminated, it was the strongest country that would come out as the new world leader, and he wished it to be Japan. He self imposes his own will as Japan's will, claiming that Japan wished it as so.

Later, when Seitenshi left the last meeting with him to stop [[Takuto Yasuwaki|Yasuwaki]] from killing [[Tina Sprout|Tina]], he angrily left to go back to Osaka Area.

Sogen seems to be somewhat acquainted with Rentaro, having met him several years before the story began. The two seem to be on uneven terms and don't get along. Rentaro mentions that shortly after he was adopted by [[Kikunojyo Tendo]], he was taken to a lot of parties, where he met the man. Sogen is seen to even disrespect Rentaro, referring him as just a simple civil officer. The two meet again during a meeting with Seitenshi where Sogen expresses his thoughts on Rentaro being responsible for destroying the rail gun, to which the latter seems to think little about it. This extends into a small conversation between the two, where Rentaro disagrees with Sogen's aim for total rule, but Sogen says he will accomplish it, and eliminate anyone who gets in his way.

Both Sogen and Seitenshi are representatives and protectors of their respective parts within Tokyo. The two meet during a meeting where Sogen tells her he aims to unite all of Japan under one rule, to which he claims whe will do so but it is seen that Seitenshi disagrees with him, and is not willing to comply with his demands.
